daily practice - January 2026
started out slow
This month started off a little slow. I was sort of stuck on one image that just didn’t turn out. I did three paintings of it, but honestly don’t love any of them enough to count as a part of the 100. It got me a little hung up until mid-month when I tried to think a bit about what sort of image I like painting, as a way to snap out of the rut. So I found a few rocky oceanscapes on Unspalsh and it got me going again.

I also got into magical waterfalls that I had fun with - I like the way I was able to get a sense of movement in the water in the first one. These feel very close to the unfinished state, but I didn’t want to go overboard. I almost did on the second one.

These could be fun combined with my magical landscapes from December.
Then there are four that are riverscapes? Although one is probably 90% ocean, but maybe at the mouth of the river?

Which one is your favorite? I am torn between a few this month!
Painting count: Oct-9, Nov-16, Dec 15, Jan 15 = total 55!
Thank you for reading!

I’m so emotional about these! They are stunning to me, I looooove seeing your work.
2nd and 4th riverscapes are my favorite. They both have a peaceful quality - #2 sunny and warm #4 cool and refreshing. we are viewing at a turn or a bend. Something is going to happen, but for now we can just enjoy.
