Studio Recap - 2025
What I made last year
I saw a few artists recap their 2025 creations and thought, what a great idea! Substack -and you - have been a great accountability partner for me in 2025! Thank you for being here and for your support in whatever way you read my posts!
This is a short summary. Each month I did a recap post, and some have videos and sketchbook flip throughs (always a favorite). Please take a look through my archives.
My Substack is reader supported, you should be able to look back at all posts at any subscription level. Almost everything is for sale (sketchbook spreads are harder to sell than original art obvs, but we can figure something out), so please message me if something strikes your interest.
As 2025 started out, I was following some wonderful artists on Patreon, Emma Carlisle and Chloe Briggs. The work got me into drawing, mixed media, new mediums, and creative thinking. The Brazilian landscape was from a picture a friend shared, inspired by the work I made in 2024 for that 100 day project.

I took this in my own direction between Feb, March and April working with a favorite lily pad image in all the ways.

Then, I had an experimental month or two, simmering ideas for what’s to come next.

And then summer! And I tried my hand at plein air painting. I’ve always sketched and used watercolors outside, but I ventured into oil paints and using a plein air easel in August.
This highlighted for me an interest (and lack of skill) in oil painting. In October I set a personal challenge of doing 100 small oil paintings - letting it take me as long as it takes.

This leads me to now!
Still working toward 100 small oil paintings while it’s cold here in New England. Dreaming of summer and painting outside! I hope you enjoyed that recap! What’s your favorite month?
Thank you for reading!

Love the oil paintings at the end, but all great!
